SNA Link Installation Information
7 SNA Link Installation
Information
This chapter contains information you need to know about installation
of the SNA link products.
To run an SNA link product on the HP 3000, you must install the
product, and then your Hewlett-Packard support contact must
configure your HP 3000 environment to support the product.
Before the Hewlett-Packard support contact arrives to do the minimum
configuration of the SNA link product on the HP 3000, you must do
these things:
1. Ensure that the remote system has the required hardware and
software as listed in Chapter 1 , “SNA Links Overview,” in this
manual.
2. Ensure that the remote system has been configured according to the
procedures detailed in the ACF/NCP and ACF/VTAM Guide Host
System Programmer’s Reference or the AS/400 Guide Host System
Programmer’s Reference.
3. Obtain a copy of the new remote system configuration listing; your
Hewlett-Packard support contact will need this information later
during the minimum configuration of the SNA link product.
4. Ensure that the modem link between the HP 3000 and the remote
system is operational.
5. Ensure that the HP 3000 is at the proper release level.
6. Use the AUTOINST utility to load the SNA link product software.
See the HP 3000 MPE XL Installation and Update Manual or the
HP 3000 MPE XL Add-On Manual for more information.
7. Run NMMAINT to ensure that all of the necessary software modules
have been successfully installed by AUTOINST and are at the
correct version levels.
After you do these installation tasks, your Hewlett-Packard support
contact installs the PSI card and completes the minimum configuration
required to verify minimum SNA link product functionality.
