Conﬁguring Serial Devices (for PC-Based Management)

OpenView DTC Manager and NMMGR

When the system is conﬁgured for PC-Based management, there are

several parameters conﬁgured in NMMGR that must match

corresponding parameters conﬁgured in the OpenView DTC Manager.

For each DTC that is to have access to the system using nailed devices

there must be a corresponding DTC conﬁgured on the OpenView DTC

Manager. The corresponding DTC is the DTC that has the same DTC

Node Name in NMMGR and the OpenView DTC Manager. The

following is a list of those parameters that must match and the step

where the parameter is conﬁgured in NMMGR:

• The HP 3000’s node name conﬁgured in step 3 must match the

default destination for any DTC ports conﬁgured as non-switched

terminals or DTC ports conﬁgured as dedicated printers.

• The DTC’s node name conﬁgured in step 6 must be conﬁgured for a

corresponding DTC on the OpenView DTC Manager.

• The DTC’s card types and conﬁguration, conﬁgured in steps 6 and 7

must match the conﬁguration of a corresponding DTC on the

OpenView DTC Manager.

• The PAD device name and the PAD device type, if one is speciﬁed,

that is conﬁgured in step 7, subsection Conﬁgure X.25 card, must

match the PAD device name and type conﬁgured on the PAD access

screen on the OpenView DTC Manager.
