Configuring Systems for Terminals, Printers, and Other Serial Devices (32022-90051)

Chapter 3 51
Automatic Configuration of DTCs
Performing an Automatic Configuration Inside NMMGR
Performing an Automatic Configuration
Inside NMMGR
Automatic configuration can also be performed by invoking the
DTCCNTRL command file inside the NMMGR utility. Refer to Chapter
5, “Configuring Serial Devices (for Host-Based Management),” for
detailed steps on the NMMGR DTS host-based management
configuration process. To automatically add and configure a DTC within
NMMGR, you must still provide the DTC’s LAN address. Also, as with
performing an automatic configuration outside NMMGR, all serial
ports using DTCCNTRL will be configured as nailed, direct connect
terminal ports using the terminal profile TR10AUTO.
NOTE
You can only perform automatic configuration of new DTCs if you are
operating in a host-based management environment. In a PC-based
management environment, NMMGR will report an error if the
automatic configuration is invoked.
Step 1: Use Valid Configuration File
You must first already have a valid network configuration file and your
HP 3000 must not have experienced any Datacommunication
Configurator (DCC) errors during the last reboot. Refer to Appendix D,
“Error Messages.” for more information on DCC error messages.
