Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Foundation operating systems require NTFS, including the ability to
promote the server to a domain controller to use Microsoft Active Directory, and NTFS offers greater
security. Review the Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation and Microsoft Windows Server 2012
Foundation documentation to properly configure the server and to understand how to use NTFS with
these operating systems, while concurrently using previous versions of Microsoft Windows NT in a
network infrastructure.
