D SMH and the WBEM Providers/SNMP Management
Agents
The WBEM Providers and SNMP Management Agents are two different groups of services whose
purpose is the same -- to report system health and status information back to the System
Management Homepage (SMH) application, where it can be monitored by the System
Administrator. These services provide all of the management data displayed by SMH. Both
groups of services are installed at the same time when you install the Integrity Support Pack.
They coexist on the system and run simultaneously. However, SMH can only use one of them
at a time as its data source. Currently, SMH uses the WBEM Providers as its default data source.
The following sections describe the WBEM Provider and SNMP Management Agent services in
more detail.
