PMP Setup and Installation Guide v5.5

Start monitoring 39
Default settings
The default monitoring settings are:
Monitoring Status – Monitor and Alert
Number of samples to determine status—5
Number of Log Days - 30
The default monitoring settings can be changed at the Monitoring Administration page. For information about
monitoring parameters, refer to the HP ProLiant Essentials Performance Management Pack User Guide.
Sample rate
PMP does not control the amount of time between samples. Instead, the sample rate (data collection interval) is
set from within the HP Management Agents. For information about altering the Management Agent settings, refer
to the HP ProLiant Essentials Performance Management Pack User Guide.
After starting monitoring of a server, the sample rate (data collection interval) displayed on the Monitoring
Administration page is synchronized to equal the sample rate of the agents for the monitored server.
The servers to which the enclosure is connected determine the sample rate for a network storage enclosure. The
sample rate for the storage enclosure is the highest sample rate of the connected servers.
Number of samples
PMP enables you to specify the number of samples over which the monitoring service calculates a running
average of gathered entries to determine system performance status. For information about modifying the sample
count, refer to the HP ProLiant Essentials Performance Management Pack User Guide.
Log Days
The Log Days option allows you to choose the number of days that you need data logged for. You can select a
value for this option using the two drop down lists. The first drop down list contains values starting from 1 to 20.
The other drop down list contains options such as Day(s), Month(s) and Year(s). For example, if you can select 2
in the first drop down list, and select Year(s) in the second drop down list, data is logged for 760 days. The data
that was logged first is cyclically replaced as data is logged.
