Installation (Smart Setup) Guide, Windows Server 2003, v6.2

The WBEM (Web-Based Enterprise Management) Providers are installed by default when you
install the Integrity Support Pack. WBEM is a Web-based approach for exchanging data across
different technologies and platforms. WBEM data is usually encoded using Extensible Markup
Language (XML) and then transmitted using Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP).
The SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) Management Agents are also installed by
default when you install the Integrity Support Pack. SNMP provides network management
information using the TCP/IP and IPX/SPX protocols.
Both of these data sources are installed at the same time and coexist on the system. However,
only one data source can be active at any given time. To change your system's management
information data source (for example, from WBEM Providers to SNMP Agents), complete the
following steps:
1. Log into SMH and select Settings Select SMH Data Source Select.
2. At the bottom of the page, choose the radio button for SNMP or WBEM and click Select.

3. Wait 5 seconds for the change to take effect.
4. Close the SMH window and log back into SMH to view the results of the new setting.
NOTE: SMH uses the WBEM Providers as its default data source.
Configuring the WBEM Providers
The standard user accounts used to access the HP WBEM Providers management information
must have access rights and security group memberships to allow remote access by HP SIM or
other clients querying WMI data. An administrator account has sufficient rights and security
group memberships to access the HP WBEM Providers management information.
