Abstract
This paper describes the level of support available for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
and Datacenter Editions with Service Pack 2 (SP 2) for Itanium-based Systems, including:
Supported server platforms
Recommend system configuration
Procedures for new installations
Known issues with workarounds
Microsoft provides Windows Server 2003 in both 32-bit and 64-bit Editions. The focus of this paper
is for the Intel Itanium (IA64) processor family. This paper does not describe support for the Intel and
AMD x86 and x64 processor families or for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.

Introduction to Windows Server 2003 and Service Pack 2
Windows Server 2003 is an accumulation of Microsoft Knowledge Base article (KB) fixes that
Microsoft has released since Windows Server 2003. The following Operating Systems may be
upgraded to SP 2:
Windows Server 2003, Enterprise and Datacenter Editions
Windows Server 2003 with SP 1, Enterprise and Datacenter Editions

Supported Configurations
Windows Server 2003 SP 2 is supported on HP Integrity servers that meet the minimum system
configuration guidelines established by Microsoft and listed in table 1.

Supported Software
HP Integrity Servers should be updated with the latest HP Integrity Support Pack (ISP) version 5.0 or
higher before upgrading to Service Pack 2. HP drivers, tools, utilities, and manageability agents are
included in the HP Integrity Support Pack.
Recommended System Configuration
Table 1 lists the recommended minimum system configuration established by Microsoft for Windows
Server 2003. These requirements do not change for applying Windows server 2003 SP2. The
recommendations listed here pertain to the Windows Server 2003 operating system only and do not
