McDATA 4Gb SAN Switch for HP p-Class BladeSystem release notes (AA-RW1ZH-TE, April 2008)
Reinstalling Pr
oduct Feature Enhancement keys
Product Featur
e
Enhancement (PFE) keys are not removable and therefore do not need to be reinstalled
after performing a factory reset on the McDATA 4Gb SAN Switch.
Change in authentication secret checking
McDATA N_Por t and E_Port authentication checks for duplicate secrets when the switch authenticates
on
any of its ports. If you configured the same CHAP secrets for HP M-Series or M cDATA switches and
directors in a release prior to 09.00.00, after upgrading to 09.00.00 or later, any port that tries to log
into the
switch will go to an Invalid Attachment state and will be prevented from logging into the switch.
Be sure that you do not have duplicate C H AP secrets configured before upgrading the firmwar e for the
HP M-Series or M cDATA switches to version 09.00.00 or later.
Known issues
This section describes the known issues related to the McDATA 4Gb SAN Switch.
Zoning alias error message
Firmware versions 5.2.1.04.00 or later no longer support aliases. When upgrading from firmware
versions earlier than 5 .2.1.04.00 (with aliases defined in the zoning database) to version 5.2.1.04.00 or
later, the following message can be seen when displaying zoning information:
Error retrieving Zone Alias member entries. Alias does not exist!
Workaround
Make any change to zoning on a remote switch and activate the changed zone set. This causes the
switch wit
h
an error to save the new zoning, which then clears the issue.
McDATA Web Server reports unknown status for all ports in the target/initiator
column
McDATA Web Server re ports unknown status for all ports in the target/initiator column of the Devices
data wi ndow when the McDATA 4Gb SAN Switch is directly connected to a MSA1000 or MSA1500.
Workaround
This does
not
effect actual Fibre Channel connectivity, but is simply reported with unknown status by the
McDATA Web Server.
Sluggish command scroll in CLI
In a large fabric, commands that scroll their output in CLI are sluggish.
Workaround
Close al
l
GUI sessions.
CLI does not display the switch binding state
It is not possible to see that switch binding is enabled in the CLI if there is no switch binding membership
list.
