Using the CLI to install firmware
To install firmware using the CLI when a FTP server is present on the management workstation, use the
Firmware Install command. See the McDATA 4Gb SAN Switch for HP p-Class BladeSystem
command line interface guide for information about this command. This command disrupts fabric traffic.
1. Enter the firmware install command to download the firmware from a remote host to the switch,
install the firmware, then reset the switch to activate the firmware. If possible, a non-disruptive activation
will be performed.
McDATA4GbSAN (admin) #> firmware install
2. At the following prompt, press Y.
The switch will be reset. This process will cause a disruption to I/O
traffic. Continuing with this action will terminate all management
sessions, including any Telnet sessions. When the firmware activation
is complete, you may log in to the switch again.
