Integrity VM virtual machine guests must have an HP-UX operating system type. Windows and Linux guests are not
supported.

To use iSCSI, you must provide connectivity to a compatible iSCSI SAN. As with Fibre Channel storage, end-to-end
support for an iSCSI storage device is generally certified by the storage vendor.

Requirements for Virtual Connect logical servers
Supported versions of appropriate firmware (see the Insight Management Support Matrix at
www.hp.com/go/matrixoe/docs.
• Virtual Connect Manager
• HP BladeSystem Onboard Administrator. See “Configuring Systems Insight Manager with
Onboard Administrator credentials” (page 27) for important information.
• HP Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) for ProLiant or Integrity
• Latest supported firmware update for your server blade BIOS
Logical server management leverages Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager and Virtual Connect
Manager to provide Virtual Connect based functionality. HP recommends that you are familiar

Configuring and registering Hyper-V and ESX VM Hosts and VMware vCenter
To manage ESX and Hyper-V virtual machine logical servers, perform the following steps:
• Configure and identify individual VM Hosts using Systems Insight Manager
• Register VM Hosts using virtual machine management
To manage ESX virtual machine logical servers, perform the following additional steps:
• Configure VMware vCenter in Systems Insight Manager, including the credentials and URL
for vCenter (use Options→VME Options)
• Discover the vCenter in Systems Insight Manager
Configuring VMware vSphere client settings for browsing data store
The user configured in the Systems Insight Manager menu selection Options→VME Options→Add
or Edit VME Credentials... must have the VMware vSphere Browse Datastore permission set. This
is required for logical servers to use virtual storage.
