Verify printer operation
To verify that your printer/MFP is working properly, print a configuration page. The configuration page
displays the operating status of the printer/MFP.
The steps to print a configuration page can vary with the printer/MFP model. For most printers/MFPs
with a control panel, a menu map is provided to navigate the control panel menus. To print a
configuration page, use the menu map or see your printer/MFP documentation for specific instructions.
NOTE: The name of the printer configuration page might also vary by printer type.
Install the hardware
CAUTION: HP Jetdirect print servers contain electronic components that can be
damaged by static electricity through electrostatic discharge (ESD). To prevent ESD
damage, maintain frequent contact with any bare sheet metal surface on the printer. A grounding wrist
strap (or similar device) is useful for this purpose. Avoid touching electronic components or circuit
paths.
1. Upgrade the firmware on your printer/MFP. (See the printer/MFP's setup or user guide for
firmware upgrade instructions.)
2. After the firmware is upgraded, plug the USB connector on the HP Jetdirect 2700w Print Server
into the printer/MFP's USB connector on the back of the device. Tighten the thumb screws and
ensure that the print server is held securely in place.
NOTE: Only those printers/MFPs listed in the section What you need for installation on page 1
are compatible with the HP Jetdirect 2700w Print Server.
