Example Network Topologies
This section shows you a few example network topologies in which the Series
4100GL Switches can be implemented. For more topology information, see
the HP network products World Wide Web site, http://www.hp.com/go/
hpprocurve.
Basic Connectivity
The Series 4100GL Switches can provide basic network connectivity to a high
number of users. End nodes, printers and other peripherals, and servers can
be easily connected, as shown in the above illustration.
Notice that the end node devices are connected to the switch by either
“straight-through” or “crossover” twisted-pair cables. Either cable type can be
used because of the “HP Auto-MDIX” feature on the 10/100-TX GL Modules
and the standard “Auto MDI/MDI-X” feature on the 100/1000-T GL Transceiver
to which the server is connected. The six twisted-pair ports on the
100/1000-T GL Module also support the “Auto MDI/MDI-X” feature.
