CHAP Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol

initiator A device that begins an iSCSI transaction by issuing a command to another device (the iSCSI
target), giving it a task to perform.
IP Internet Protocol
The standard Internet protocol for moving packets of information from one computer to another.
Commonly combined with TCP in the phrase TCP/IP.
IP SAN A SAN created using the iSCSI protocol to connect servers and storage over a GbE network

An IP-based standard for linking data storage devices over a network and transferring data by
carrying SCSI commands over IP networks.
iSCSI CRC iSCSI cyclic redundancy check
A shortened cyclic code check used for error detection.

A protocol designed to facilitate the automated discovery, management, and configuration of
iSCSI and Fibre Channel devices on a TCP/IP network.
