DEFINEVIRTDISK Command
$storage-pool-name
is the name of the storage pool. It must have the same name as a storage pool
process that has or will have an OSCONFIG entry. A previous DEFINEPOOL
command cannot have been executed using this process name unless a
subsequent DELETEPOOL command has been issued. The storage pool process
does not have to be running. If it is, this command changes the execution state of
the process from INACTIVE to UP when the STARTDOWN attribute is FALSE and
to DOWN when the STARTDOWN attribute is TRUE.
attribute-parameter
is one of the attribute parameters described under Storage Pool Attribute Set on
page B-27. Attributes you do not specify use the following default values:
DEFINEVIRTDISK Command
The DEFINEVIRTDISK command defines the attributes of a virtual disk. $ZSMS must
be in the UP execution state, and its catalog must be accessible. Following are
guidelines for virtual disk processes:

TMF audit data should not be placed on a virtual disk process.

DSM/SCM files should not be placed on a virtual disk process.

All audited volumes in a pool must use the same audit volume.

Swap files should not be placed on a virtual disk process, unless they are on the
same virtual disk process as the corresponding object file.
Only members associated with the super-group (255,n) can execute the
DEFINEVIRTDISK command.
CATALOGLOC The physical volume is $SYSTEM, and the subvolume is
chosen by SMF. The system name is always the system
on which you are running PUP.
