This section includes:
Overview
The M8701A and M8702A units support the LTO-5 fibre channel tape drive. They are
designed for backup operations for NonStop NS-series servers and Blade Systems.
The M8701A comes in a rackmount 2U configuration, and the M8702A comes in a
tabletop 2U configuration. These units are shipped and configured as sequential
autoloaders.
They can be configured in random access mode to allow library management software
to run. The library management software ELMM (Entry Level Media Manager) is
designed to automate HP NonStop tape request. ELMM allows tape libraries and tape
drives to run unattended labeled backups, restores, and allows manual interaction with
a graphical user interface (GUI). ELMM can communicate with a NonStop NS-series
and Blade systems via TCP/IP. With ELMM you can schedule backups, label and
import or export tape cartridges to or from the tape library, and load or unload tape
drives.
The units provide a compact, high-capacity solution for simple data backup. These
unique designs house up to 12 tape cartridges for each U of height, with easy access
to tape cartridges via removable magazines (see Table 1-1). Each magazine can hold
up to 12 tape cartridges.
