Data Migration of an existing Microsoft Windows CMS to a
new Insight Software 6.3 system
This paper contains instructions for data migration to a new
Insig ht Softwa re system insta lled with version 6 .3 .
Set up a separate target 2008 R2 cluster with Insight Software 6.3 release installed on it. Then, use
the Insight Softwa re migra tion tools to migra te Insight Softwa re da ta from the source 20 08 R2 6 .3
cluster or Sta nda lone Server to the ta rget 2008 R2 6.3 cluster in the same domain.

summa rized below.

1. Follow the instruction in the main body of this document to create the new Windows 2008 R2
cluster.
o Install the new cluster in the same Windows domain as the old cluster.
o Configure the new cluster systems, Insight Software, and the SQL server with the
same administrator passwords as in the old cluster.
2. On the source cluster or Standalone Server, follow the instructions in the Data Migration of an
existing Microsoft W indows CMS to a new Insight Software 6.3 system white pa per to:
o Prepare the source CMS and run the export utility on one of the nodes in the
Windows 2008 R2 cluster or on the Standalone Server.
o Prepare the target CMS, copy the exported file from Source to Target Cluster node
and run the import utility on one of the nodes in the Windows 2008 R2 cluster while
the other cluster node is shutdown.
o Finish the configuration of Insight Software in the Windows 2008 R2 cluster.
