7. At this point the cluster group for Systems Insight Manager and Insight Software has been created,
the access point resource is defined and is online, and disk resource is defined and online as
shown in Fig ure 7.

Installing Insight Software prerequisites
Complete the following configura tion items before sta rting to insta ll Insight Softwa re.
Verifying the SQL Server clustered instance and determining port number in use
If you did not just now verify the clustered SQ L Server i nstance that Insight software will use, do so
now by moving the SQL Server application to its alternate node and then back to its current node.
Starting with the 6.0 release, Insight Software does not allow dynamic port numbers to be used with
database named instances. By default, named instances in SQL server 2008 are configured to use
dynamic ports. If SQL Server is configured to use dynamic ports, this setting now must be changed.
By default the unnamed database instance listens on port 1433. The SQL Browser uses port 1434.
Port 1433, port 1435, and incrementally higher are often good choices for named instance static port
numbers.
