– HP Insight Control virtual machine management: Virtual machine management tool that provides
unified virtual machine management of physical and virtual server resources within HP SIM.
Supports VMware ESX, Citrix XenServer, and Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machine environments.
– HP Insight Control server migration: Management software application that provides an
automated, accurate, and affordable way to migrate existing servers and their content to the
latest HP BladeSystem or ProLiant server technologies, or the latest virtualization platforms from
VMware, Microsoft, and Citrix. Supports physical-to-ProLiant (P2P), virtual-to-ProLiant (V2P),
physical-to-virtual (P2V), and virtual-to-virtual (V2V) migrations.
• HP Insight Software Services: Management services that facilitate component integration and
updates. These services simplify assignment of Insight Control licenses to servers managed by
HP SIM and identification of software updates.
• HP Insight Software Advisor: Tool that automatically verifies the target platform for compliance with
installation prerequisites. The advisor runs a series of tests on the server and identifies issues that
might affect the Insight Control suite installation or operation.
• HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager (VCEM): Software application that simplifies the
management of BladeSystem environments that use HP Virtual Connect to control LAN and SAN
connectivity. This application provides a central console to manage and control infrastructure
resources, a single resource pool for LAN and SAN address administration, and grouping
capabilities that enable rapid, reliable deployment and movement of servers across the data center.
• HP Insight Dynamics for ProLiant: Tool that enables continuous planning of capacity and power,
balancing across physical and virtual resources, cost-effective high availability, and consistent
infrastructure provisioning. HP Insight Dynamics is based on proven HP technologies, such as
HP Virtual Server Environment, HP Insight Control, and HP Systems Insight Manager.
HP Insight Dynamics takes advantage of HP Virtual Connect to bring the flexibility of virtualization
to a physical environment.
– HP Insight Dynamics recovery management: A component of HP Insight Dynamics that provides
automated disaster recovery of logical server environments. Logical servers are server profiles
that detach the logical identity from the physical resource. Logical servers that are managed
by HP Insight Dynamics recovery management are referred to as Disaster Recovery Protected
(DR Protected) logical servers. Each DR Protected logical server is configured to run on an HP
ProLiant server; either a c-Class blade equipped with HP Virtual Connect, or on a virtual
machine under the control of a VMware ESX server. HP Insight Dynamics recovery management
utilizes the Continuous Access capabilities of HP storage environments to make sure that critical
data is properly transitioned to the recovery location.
