Installing and upgrading to HP Insight Software 6.0 on Windows Server 2003 R2 MSCS for high availability

Insight Control power management
For certain managed power devices, such as HP PDUs that communicate with HP SIM over SNMP and
that restrict access to specified hosts, their configuration should include the IP addresses of both the
primary and secondary CMS systems—as using the HP SIM virtual server IP address does not work with
these devices.
Global Workload Manager (gWLM)
1. Add the following property to the gWLM Agent property file found in ~\Virtual Server
Environment\conf\gwlmagent.properties:
com.hp.gwlm.security.virtualLocalHostName=SIMvirtualserverIP
Where SIMvirtualserverIP is the virtual server IP address of HP SIM.
2. Restart the gWLM and SIM services to enable this change.
Insight Dynamics infrastructure orchestration
1. Make sure both primary and secondary node have the same users in the HP IO Windows user
groups:
a. Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Local Users, and Groups on
the primary node
b. Take notes of the users or user groups inside the HPIO_Administrators, HPIO_Users, and
HPIO_Architects Groups
2. Go to the secondary node and check if the users observed on step 2 are correctly set to the
HPIO_Administrators, HPIO_Users, and HPIO_Architects groups.
Installation complete
The cluster installation of HP Insight Software is now complete and validated. You may continue to
perform other configuration steps as needed.
Configure the cluster for operations
To implement the Insight software high availability configuration described in Figure 1, with HP SIM
and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 running on different nodes, HP recommends you use the cluster
resource ownership arrangement shown in Figure 12. Use Cluster Administrator to move the Resource
Groups as needed. If a node were to fail, its resources would failover to the other node.
