HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager 6.3.1 Release Notes
NOTE: Keep the following in mind:
◦ Some VC 3.3x features are not validated when adding a VC 3.3x Domain to a VC
Domain Group such as Login Banner configurations, Network Loop Protection, network
labels and colors, Storage management credentials, or Radius/TACACS. VCEM does
not require that the VC Domain configuration match the VC Domain Group.
◦ Some VC 3.3x features are not replicated when VC Domain maintenance is completed
such as Storage Management Credentials and Radius/TACACS.
For more information, see the HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager 6.3.1 User Guide.
Prerequisites
VCEM 6.3.1 can be used to update existing installations of VCEM 6.3, and can be downloaded
from http://www.hp.com/go/vcem.
Issues and workarounds
IMPORTANT: VCEM 6.3.1 supports the Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) browser, but the
underlying Virtual Connect Manager versions earlier than VC FW 3.30 only supports IE8 in IE7
compatibility mode. Using IE8 to perform VCEM Domain Maintenance tasks that access Virtual
Connect Manager might result in failed or incomplete operations. HP recommends Microsoft Internet
Explorer 7 (IE7) or Firefox 3.x as the preferred browsers for use with VCEM. For a list of browsers
supported by Virtual Connect Manager, see the HP Virtual Connect for c-Class BladeSystem User
Guide.
Loss of network connectivity may occur in Domain Groups running firmware mode
3.15, if a domain running firmware mode 3.30 or greater is added.
This issue can occur if you are running in VC firmware mode 3.1x with tunneled networks, and
you update one of your domains to VC firmware mode 3.30. When Complete VC Domain
Maintenance is selected on the VC firmware mode 3.30 domain, the base configuration parameter
<hpvcd:allowVlanMapping> gets set to true. When <hpvcd:allowVlanMapping> is
propagated to VCDs running VC firmware mode 3.1x, it breaks their tunneling configuration. The
networks will still have tunneling enabled, but the global configuration is set to VLAN mapping.
To resolve this issue click Cancel instead of Complete VC Domain Maintenance.
Hotfixes will be released for Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager versions 6.3.1 and 7.0. A
permanent update that prevents the issue from occurring will be included in the next release of
Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager. The following Customer Advisory will be updated when more
information is available: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?
objectID=c03264140
NOTE: Only VC firmware versions prior to 3.30 are affected by this issue.
Managing VC Domains with Extended VLAN capacity enabled
VCEM 6.3.1 is able to manage VC Domains with VLAN capacity enabled.
CAUTION: Virtual Connect Manager 3.30 does not allow you to easily revert back from Expanded
VLAN capacity mode to Legacy capacity mode. To revert back to Legacy capacity mode, you must
delete the VC Domain in Virtual Connect Manager and then recreate it.
