HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager Overview
HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager (VCEM) version 6.3.1 centralizes network connection
management and workload mobility for HP BladeSystem servers that use Virtual Connect to access
local area networks (LANs), storage area networks (SANs), and converged network environments.
VCEM helps organizations to increase productivity, respond faster to workload and infrastructure
changes, and reduce operating costs.

IMPORTANT: For compatibility and correct VCEM operation, the HP Virtual Connect Manager
and associated firmware on all managed domains must be versions 2.1x, or later. For more

Enhancements
HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager 6.3.1 with Virtual Connect 3.3x firmware adds new
features including:
• Storage Management Credentials that make it easy to configure iSCSI boot configurations in
server profiles.
• Added iSCSI Boot Assistant functionality in VCEM server profiles to simplify iSCSI boot
configurations.
• Port Throughput Statistics that ensure consistent telemetry settings for each VC domain group.
• Network Access Groups in VCEM server profiles.
• Expanded VLAN capacity that allows VCEM to manage VC Domains with Expanded VLAN
capacity (Extended Mapped VLAN) enabled, including filters for searching networks/VLANs
in the VCEM Server Profile GUI.
NOTE: In VCEM 6.3.1, the network selection changes and network/VLAN filters are applied
only when creating or editing server profiles for VC Domain Groups with firmware mode 3.3x
or later.
• Changes to the VCEM VC Domain list screens to display VC Domain overall status.
• Network Loop Protection that ensures consistent loop protection settings for each VC domain
group.
• Login Banner Configuration that ensures consistent settings, for example splash screen settings,
for each VC domain group.
• VCEM CLI maintenance and show status operations.
• Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) and Terminal access controller access
control system (TACACS).
• Support for VCEM 6.3.1 updates to existing 6.3 installations.
In order to install VCEM 6.3.1 you must have version 6.3 installed on your system. VCEM is
delivered on Insight Software media 6.3, or both VCEM 6.3 and 6.3.1 can be downloaded
from www.hp.com/go/vcem.
