Backing up and Restoring HP Insight Management 7.0 Central Management Server (Windows)
91
Appendix J: Troubleshooting
The mxsync tool times out before Systems Insight Manager successfully starts. By default,
mxsync waits 15 minutes for the Systems Insight Manager Windows service to start before
terminating. To change the wait period, set the variable init.hpsim.wait.minutes in the
file <SIM>\mxsync\conf\mxsync.properties to the preferred value. On a Microsoft
Windows Server 2008 server, you may see a timeout error if you are running as a user who is
not Administrator. In this case, mxsync should be run as Administrator.
ERROR: Access denied. The entered logon token is invalid. Obtain a new token and perform the
operation again. The token used by mxsync to connect to Systems Insight Manager is no
longer valid. The most likely cause is that the session has timed out because of inactivity.
The default timeout value is 30 minutes. You must exit from the mxsync tool and restart to
establish a new session.
The lsmanalyzer tool incorrectly reports an issue when an auto-provisioned volume is
removed post-backup. When this occurs, the mxsync command prevents the Administrator
from exiting the Logical servers and associated SAN-based storage section of the mxsync tool
until all items identified by lsmanalyzer have been resolved.
Here is an example of lsmanalyzer output in which it asks to add a non-existent volume to
an SPE:
Checking SPM_94575
Add storage volume "SPM_94575" to SPE
"VCDG_106_PoolEntry__lss_1321575166166"...............................[INPUT]
ISSUE: Server WWN 50:01:43:80:02:A3:00:4C (LSA, IN_USE) LUN
1 is presented to storage volume "SPM_94575" in storage
array "". Storage volume "SPM_94575" is available in
the SPM Catalog. However WWN 50:01:43:80:02:A3:00:4C
is assigned to storage pool entry
"VCDG_106_PoolEntry__lss_1321575166166".
RESOLUTION: Add storage volume "SPM_94575" to SPE
"VCDG_106_PoolEntry__lss_1321575166166" to resolve
the inconsistency. The "Quarantine" checkbox must be
unchecked for the volume, the owning storage pool,
and array in the SPM GUI to perform this operation.
Note: Storage volumes must be re-added to the SPE in
LUN order. [ID004]
Workaround The mxsync command prevents the Administrator from exiting the Logical
servers and associated SAN-based storage section until all items identified by lsmanalyzer
have been resolved.
To continue execution of the mxsync recovery steps, you will need to
delete the service to which the volume is bound and remove the volume from SPM, then
repeat the phase in mxsync.
