Introduction
If the HP Insight Management CMS environment becomes lost or corrupted, it may be
necessary to restore your environment from a backup copy.
Note:
The details described in this paper are specific to the Insight
Management software components included on the HP Insight
Management 7.0 DVD. See the Scope
section for additional details.
The Preparing your environment for backup section in this white paper describes the steps
to quiesce the HP Insight Management environment prior to performing a backup. In the
section Saving your environment, the steps to perform a full system backup or partial
backup of the HP Insight Management files, directories and databases that contain user
changeable state and configuration data are described. A partial backup can be
performed between full system backups. The steps to restore the environment are
described in the Preparing your environment for restore and Restoring your environment
sections. Finally the Completing the recovery process section describes a set of best
practices to resynchronize the environment after the data has been restored. HP
recommends periodically testing your backup and restore procedures in a non-production
environment.
Note:
This paper describes the backup and restoration of the same
system for fault insurance purposes only. It does not apply to system
migration or software upgrades.
