Backing up and Restoring HP Insight Management 7.0 Central Management Server (Windows)
17
mxsync-svcutil manual
For HA CMS configurations, you will also need to make this change for the Insight
Management services that are running on the secondary node. To do this, you must
login to the secondary node. There are two local services that are not configured as
part of the Insight Management cluster service that need to be changed. These
services are running on both cluster server nodes and will need to be changed manually
on the secondary node. You can stop these services from the command prompt using
the mxsync-svcutil script.
Note:
For HA CMS cluster configurations, Insight Management services
that are configured as cluster resources are already set to Manual.
mxsync-svcutil only changes those Insight Management services
that are not cluster resources.
2. Using the tool of your choice, perform a full system backup of the CMS. In testing for this
whitepaper, Windows backup tools were used as well as disk-based snap-clones for
backups.
Note:
For HA CMS cluster configurations, HP recommends that you follow
the recommended backup procedures from Microsoft for doing a
full backup of the cluster nodes and cluster configuration. See the
Microsoft documentation for additional details:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771973.aspx.
For HA CMS configurations, a full backup includes a backup of the
two servers in the cluster and the shared cluster disks.
3. For remote databases only: using the tool of your choice, perform a full backup of the
databases listed in Table 8 from the remote database server. The database backup
must be sufficient to restore the entire database, including schema as well as data.
4. After the backup is complete, the startup type of the Insight Management services
should be reset to Automatic for normal operations. You can do this using the mxsync-
svcutil script, located in <SIM>\mxsync\bin.
