Usually, RAID Manager commands and HORCM must have the same privileges. If HORCM is
executed with Local System privileges, RAID Manager commands will not attach to HORCM,
because the RAID Manager command will be denied permission to communicate with HORCM
through the Mailslot.
If the HORCM instance is running with Local System privileges, RAID Manager commands do not
attach to the HORCM instance because permission will be denied. To allow the HORCM instance
to connect to the RAID Manager command, set the HORCM_EVERYCLI environment variable. See
the HP XP P9000 Raid Manager User Guide for details.
Considering Parallel failover
If you must execute Failover/testFailover with Parallel mode for many protection groups,
HORCM instances must previously be started to avoid confusion with HORCM start-up/shutdown.
Setting up the rmsra20 command
RAID Manager version 01-24-03/16 does not bundle the rmsra20 command. You must copy/Ftp
the rmsra20 command on the RAID Manager install directory as follows:
• For RMSRA20 configurations using remote connection on Linux, copy from DIR\
rmsra20.linux to /HORCM/usr/bin/rmsra20 on Linux.
• For RMSRA20 configurations using remote connection on Solaris, FTPs from DIR\
rmsra20.solaris to /HORCM/usr/bin/rmsra20 on Solaris.
• For RMSRA20 configurations using remote connection on Solaris/x86/x64, FTPs from DIR\
rmsra20.xsolaris to /HORCM/usr/bin/rmsra20 on Solaris/x86/x64.
• For RMSRA20 configurations using remote connection on HP-UX, FTPs from DIR\rmsra20.hp
to /HORCM/usr/bin/rmsra20 on HP-UX.
• For RMSRA20 configurations using remote connection on AIX, FTPs from DIR\rmsra20.aix
to /HORCM/usr/bin/rmsra20 on AIX.
Typically DIR is C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware vCenter Site Recovery
Manager\storage\sra\RMXP. See “Installation procedure” (page 24).
Performing on the same array
If you are using a separate environment for testing and want to set up CA volumes within a single
array, you need to disguise the RMSRA as a different array to the SRM. Doing this, the SRM
converts the array IDs to different IDs and then RMSRA will support two environment variables
(RMSRA_L_AID and RMSRA_R_AID). Typically setting up CA volumes within the same array will
not work because the SRM expects two separate serial numbers (one for the array, and one for
the loop back) and the array will fail on discovery.
