HP StorageWorks XP24000 Disk Array Site Preparation Guide, v01 (AE131-96002, June 2007)

CAUTION:
Any movement of the equipment by forklift should be done prior to unpacking. The carton assembly provides
the most secure support of the equipment during movement. Transporting the equipment by forklift after
the packaging carton has been removed is not advisable.
CAUTION:
The equipment cabinets are top heavy and contain very sensitive electronic and mechanical components.
When moving on frame casters, the rolling surface must be able to support the equipment weight and must
be free of surface conditions that could cause shock or vibration to the cabinet contents.
WARNING!
When using sharp objects or cutting tools, make sure that no part of your body lies in the path of the blade
bit or point.
CAUTION:
When detached from each other, DKCs and DKUs do not have side panels. Exposed printed circuit boards
(PCBs) are present; however, normal handling of the cabinet by the metal frames does not pose any ESD
risks.
CAUTION:
When disk array equipment is not located in a data center or computer room, it must be stored in a
controlled area that meets environmental requirements.
Removing packaging materials
Unpack the DKC first. DKC packaging contains a wooden ramp; standard DKU packaging does not
contain a ramp unless the DKU is shipped as an upgrade. You will use the ramp to unload both the
DKC and DKUs.
1. If shipped in a wooden crate:
a. Using an 11 mm (7/16 inch) ratchet or wrench, remove the six lag screws at the base of
the crate.
b. Using the claw end of a claw hammer, remove the crate clamps, and then remove the crate
panels.
WARNING!
Crate clamps are under tension. Wear safety glasses and hold onto the clamp with
your free hand during removal.
