4Deliveryand unpacking
The disk a rray equipment is shipped directly from HP. If the disk array is part of a system order,
HP
coordinates shipment from a ll HP locations so that all of the equipment arrives at your site at
approximately the same time.
When your equipment ships, HP p rovides you with carrier information and a n expected delivery date.
Factors beyond HP’s control can cause delivery delays. If you have not received your equipment within
two weeks of its shipment from HP, contact your HP SR, who will trace your order and expedite delivery.
CAUTION:
Before delivery,makesure yoursitemeets therequirements explained underthe heading, “Delivery
area requirements”.
Checking for shipping s hortage and damage
Upon delivery of each equipment shipment:
1. Check the carrier’s bill of lading to ensu re that the items listed match the items delivered. N otify the
carrier immediately if there are any discrepancies or missing items.
2. Inspect all shipping containers for signs of damage, such as dents, scratches, cuts, or water marks.
3. If you see any damage to the containers:
a. Note on the bill of lad ing that there is apparent damage, subject to inspection.
b. Arrange for the carrier’s representative and an H P representative to be p resent when the item in
question is unpacked.
c. Contact your HP representative, who will make sure any damaged components are replaced,
regardless of the circumstances and without waiting for any claim settlements.
Unpacking the equipment
HP representatives will supervise the unpacking and moving of the disk array equipment. It is your
responsibility to provide the people, tools, and equipment necessary to perform these tasks.
Required personnel
HP recommends that three p hysically able personnel be available to assist with offloading the disk array
equipment from the pallet. Personnel must be k nowledgeable and experienced with the safe handling of
large, heavy, and sensitive computer equipment.
Required tools
• Claw hammer (if full packaging with wooden crate)
• Open-end or socket wrench 11mm (7/16 in) , 12mm (8/16 in), 14mm (9/16 in), and 17mm
(11/16 in), or adjustable wrench
• Scissors or box knife to cut polyester banding
• Safety glasses
• Short stepladder (helpful, but not require d)
