Virtual LVI/LUN Devices
The Virtual LVI/LUN software enables users to configure multiple custom volumes (LVIs or LUs) under
a single LDEV. Open-system users define Virtual LVI/LUN devices by size in MB* (minimum device
size = 35 MB). Mainframe users define Virtual LVI/LUN devices by number of cylinders.
NOTE:
Storage capacities for LUs on the storage system are calculated based on the following values: 1 KB =
1,024 bytes, 1 MB = 1,024 bytes, 1 GB = 1,024 bytes, 1 TB = 1,024 bytes. (Storage capacities for HDDs
on the storage system are based on 1,000 instead of 1,024.)
LUN Expansion (LUSE) Devices
The LUSE software enables users to configure size-expanded LUs by concatenating multiple LUs to
form a single LU. LUSE devices are identified by the type and number of LUs which have been joined
to form the LUSE device. For example, an OPEN-V*15 LUSE device is composed of 15 OPEN-V LUs.
Control Panel
The following figure shows the storage system operator control panel. Table 13 describes the items
on the operator control panel. To open the control panel cover, push and release on the point marked
PUSH.
