R-SIM Remote service information message.
SAN Storage area network. A network of storage devices available to one or more
servers.
SIM Service information message.
SNMP Simple Network Management Protocol. A widely used network monitoring and
control protocol. Data is passed from SNMP agents, which are hardware and/or
software processes reporting activity in each network device (hub, router, bridge,
and so on) to the workstation console used to oversee the network. The agents
return information contained in a MIB (Management Information Base), which
is a data structure that defines what is obtainable from the device and what can
be controlled (turned off, on, and so on).
SSID Subsystem identifier; storage system identifier.
SVP Service processor. A notebook computer built into the disk array. The SVP
provides a direct interface to the disk array and used only by the HP service
representative.
SVS Storage Virtualization System, an appliance that manages multiple disk array
storage systems.
TID Target ID.
TPF Transaction processing facility.
VOLID Volume ID.
volume Volume on disk. An accessible storage area on disk, either physical or virtual.
VSC Volume size customization. Also known as CVS.
VTOC Volume table of contents.
WWN World Wide Name. A unique identifier assigned to a Fibre Channel device.
WWPN World wide port name.

HP StorageWorks XP Remote Web Console. A browser-based program installed
on the SVP that allows you to configure and manage the disk array.
