5. Register a command device for the forward direction in the storage systems of the primary
and intermediate sites.
This creates the command device definition file.

6. Perform a remote scan at the storage system of the intermediate site.
Perform a scan over a range that contains volumes to be defined in the copy group.
This creates disk configuration definition file for the intermediate site.
For details on how to perform a scan to acquire hardware information, see “Acquiring volume
information” (page 518).
7. Establish an inter-disk controller logical path (Intermediate → Remote).
Establishing an inter-disk controller logical path is part of creating the path set definition file.
8. Register a command device for the forward direction in the storage system of the remote site.
