For only part of the specified number, the volumes that exist at consecutive addresses are defined as a copy pairs. The
definition depends on the P-VOL and S-VOL specification method:
• When volumes are specified by the device number
Volumes with consecutive device numbers are defined as a copy pair.
• When volumes are specified by the storage system serial, CU, and CCA numbers
Volumes with consecutive CU and CCA numbers are defined as a copy pair.
You must specify 1 even if you do not define copy pairs repeatedly. The following example shows
the copy group definition file that is displayed on the ISPF panel when the following information
is specified:
• PDEVN: 7311
• SDEVN: 2A01
• Number-Of-Pairs: 3

If there is no volume at a consecutive address, that address is skipped. In this example, if there is
no volume whose device number is 7312, then the volumes with device numbers 7311, 7313,
and 7314 are defined for the P-VOL.
