HP XP P9000 Continuous Access Synchronous User Guide

Pair operations can be performed from RAID Manager only. Business Continuity Manager
and Remote Web Console do not support pair operations for pairs in a CTG with multiple XP
P9500s.
Cascade configurations with Continuous Access Journal pairs is not supported.
Assigning pairs to a consistency group
Pairs are assigned to a consistency group (CTG) during the Paircreate operation. The procedure
to assign pairs depends on the number of P9500s in the CTG, as follows:
Assigning pairs to a CTG between one primary and secondary system (page 28)
Assigning pairs belonging to multiple primary and secondary systems (page 28)
Assigning pairs to a CTG between one primary and secondary system
Assigning pairs residing in one primary and one secondary system to a consistency group depends
on the GUI you use for creating the pairs:
When creating pairs using the Remote Web Console, one consistency group is supported, #
127. See Consistency group 127 (page 31) for more information.
When creating pairs using RAID Manager, see the HP XP P9000 RAID Manager User Guide
When creating pairs for Cnt Ac-S Z pairs using Business Continuity Manager, see the Business
Continuity Manager User Guide
Assigning pairs belonging to multiple primary and secondary systems
Assigning pairs in multiple primary and secondary systems to a consistency group depends on
whether you are:
“Using a new CTG”
“Using an existing CTG”
RAID Manager is used when creating and assigning pairs to a consistency group on multiple XP
P9500s. Business Continuity Manager is not supported for this configuration
Using a new CTG
You can assign new pairs or existing pairs to a new consistency group.
Procedure 2 To assign new pairs to a new consistency group
1. Create RAID Manager configuration definition file C for a multiple primary and secondary
system configuration.
2. Perform the paircreate operation according to configuration definition file C created in Step
1.
Procedure 3 To assign existing pairs to a new consistency group
1. Create RAID Manager configuration definition file A with which to use RAID Manager for pair
operations.
2. Perform the pairsplit operation according to configuration definition file A created in Step 1.
3. Perform the pairresync operation on the Cnt Ac-S and Cnt Ac-S Z pairs, without designating
a consistency group. Do this using configuration definition file A.
4. Perform the pairsplit operation on the Cnt Ac-S and Cnt Ac-S Z pairs again, using configuration
definition file A.
5. Create RAID Manager configuration definition file C for the multiple primary and secondary
system configuration.
6. Perform the pairresync operation on the Cnt Ac-S and Cnt Ac-S Z pairs and register them to
configuration definition file C.
