HP XP P9000 Continuous Access Synchronous for Mainframe Systems User Guide

4. Select the P-VOL from the list pane, right click, and click Change Pair Option. The Change Pair
Option dialog box displays.
5. From the P-VOL Fence Level box, select the fence level for the pairs.
6. From the CFW Data list, select whether the CFW data is copied to the S-VOL.
Copy to S-VOL: CFW data is copied to the secondary volume.
Only P-VOL: CFW data is not copied to the primary volume.
7. Click Set then Apply.
If the operation does not start normally, an error code displays in the Error Code column in the
Preview list. To display an error message, select the LDEV, right-click, and select Error Detail.
ICKDSF Considerations for Cnt Ac-S Z Volumes
The XP P9500 supports the use of the ICKDSF utility program. ICKDSF performs functions for the
installation, use, and maintenance of DASD and service functions, error detection, and media
maintenance. For further information about ICKDSF, see the IBM document, Device Support Facilities
(ICKDSF) User's Guide and Reference Release Replacement Text, or other IBM documents on
ICKDSF R16 or later. See the HP XP P9000 Provisioning for Mainframe Systems Guide for further
information about using ICKDSF with the HP XP P9500.
ICKDSF on a Cnt Ac-S Z P-VOL
ICKDSF activities involve write I/O operations with device support authorization instead of normal
authorization. Because the MCU does not duplicate write I/O operations with device support
authorization at the S-VOL of a Cnt Ac-S Z pair, you must suspend a Cnt Ac-S Z pair before running
ICKDSF on a Cnt Ac-S Z P-VOL.
Procedure 18 To perform ICKDSF on a Cnt Ac-S Z P-VOL:
1. Connect to the MCU of the pair, and open the Cnt Ac-S for Mainframe windows in Remote
Web Console.
2. Suspend the pair, if not already suspended, using the S-VOL suspend option. You can also
use the CSUSPEND TSO command to suspend the pair.
3. After the P-VOL status changes to suspended/S-VOL by operator, run ICKDSF to repair the
P-VOL.
4. When volume repairs are complete, resynchronize the Cnt Ac-S Z pair. You can also use the
CESTPAIR (MODE=RESYNC) command to resynchronize the pair.
ICKDSF on a Cnt Ac-S Z S-VOL
If you need to run ICKDSF on a Cnt Ac-S Z S-VOL, you must change the status of the S-VOL to
simplex to allow write access to the S-VOL. The Cnt Ac-S Z pair must then be restarted using the
appropriate initial copy options.
Procedure 19 To perform ICKDSF on a Cnt Ac-S Z S-VOL:
1. For Cnt Ac-S Z pairs, you can stop write I/Os to the P-VOL while the S-VOL is being repaired.
To do this, suspend the pair from the MCU using P-VOL Failure for the Suspend Kind option
(or use CSUSPEND to suspend the pair).
2. Connect to the storage system containing the S-VOL, and open the Cnt Ac-S Z windows.
3. Locate and select the S-VOL to be repaired, and then release the pair. You can also use
CRECOVER to release the pair at the RCU.
4. If necessary, change the S-VOL VOLSER to avoid problems due to duplicate VOLSERs.
5. Vary the S-VOL online, and run ICKDSF to repair the S-VOL. When the volume repairs are
complete, vary the S-VOL offline.
6. Connect to the MCU, locate and select the P-VOL, note the group number, and then release
the pair.
