Monitoring, maintaining logical paths
Check logical path status to keep track of and maintain paths.
Procedure 15 To monitor logical path status:
1. In Remote Web Console, click Actions > Remote Copy > Continuous Access Synchronous for
Mainframe > RCU Operation.
2. Select MCU&RCU in the Display box.
3. Select the RCU you want, right-click, then click RCU Status. The RCU Status dialog box displays.
Logical path status definitions
The following table provides logical path status descriptions. To make sure your pair statuses are
current, click File/Refresh in the Remote Web Console window.
DefinitionStatus
This path has been successfully established and can be used for Cnt Ac-S Z remote copy
activities.
Normal
The link initialization procedure with the remote system has failed, because the physical
path connection between either the main and remote system, or between the main system
and the host, was missing.
Initialization Failed
A timeout error has occurred between the main and remote system.Communication Timeout
The logical path link function has been rejected by the remote system. All logical path
resources in the remote system might be used for other connections.
Path Rejected
The serial number of the control unit that is connected to this logical path does not match
the serial number specified by the Add RCU dialog box.
Serial Number Mismatch
The specified port does not have the initiator attribute.Invalid Port Mode
There are three possible causes:RCU Port Number
Mismatch
The specified port in the remote system is physically disconnected from the main system.
The port is not configured as an RCU target port.
The specified port number is not available.
The microcode on the remote side does not support the fibre remote copy function; or the
specified port type is not RCU target.
RCU Port Type Mismatch
A timeout error has occurred on the path between the main and remote system.Communication Failed
This logical path was blockaded because a path error or a link error occurred continuously.Logical Blockade
This logical path was blockaded because a program error occurred.Program Error
This logical path is in progress of changing the attribute of port.In Progress
Deleting logical paths
You can delete a logical path between a primary and secondary system.
Prerequisite information
Delete logical paths from the main system.
Make sure that the remaining number of paths is equal to or greater than the minimum number
of paths setting on the RCU Option dialog box, otherwise the delete path operation will fail.
Procedure 16 To delete a logical path:
1. In Remote Web Console, click Actions > Remote Copy > Continuous Access Synchronous for
Mainframe > RCU Operation.
