2 Requirements and specifications
This chapter provides system requirements for Continuous Access Journal Z.
System requirements
Continuous Access Journal Z operations are performed from the primary system to the secondary
system, which contain the Cnt Ac-J Z P-VOLs, S-VOLs, and master and restore journal volumes.
Copy operations are carried out via the data path.
General requirements for these and all Cnt Ac-J Z components are listed below.

Must be installed on primary and secondary P9500 systems.
License keys required.
Cnt Ac-J and Cnt Ac-J Z can coexist in the same storage system.

Other licenses required
Interfaces
Remote Web Console:
Must be LAN-attached to the primary system.
Not required on the secondary system, but recommended in order to change
Cnt Ac-J Z parameters and access the S-VOL for disaster recovery and
maintenance.
The following roles are required:
Storage Administrator (Remote Copy), to perform pair operations
Storage Administrator (System Resource Management), to configure settings
Business Continuity Manager

The track format for the P-VOL and S-VOL must meet the following requirements:Disk Track Format
The Cnt Ac-S Z P-VOL and S-VOL must have the same track format.
Record zero (R0) must be standard format, with key length of zero and data
length of eight. The primary system aborts the initial copy operation if R0 is not
standard format.
