Operating procedure during a primary site storage system failure (with information
lost from memory
The following are the procedures that must be performed when a failure, with information lost from
memory, occurs in the primary site storage system.
The procedure below applies when you perform a failover to remote site 1. To perform a failover
to remote site 2, you need to delete the Continuous Access Journal Z copy pair between the primary
site and remote site 1, and perform a Reverse Resync for the Continuous Access Journal Z copy
pair between the primary site and remote site 2.
Failover
1. From remote site 1, execute the YKRECVER command for the Continuous Access Journal Z
copy pair between the primary site and remote site 2.
• YKQUERY
• YKRECVER
• YKEWAIT GOTO(SIMPLEX) NOINVALIDCHECK
2. From remote site 1, execute the YKSUSPND REVERSE command for the Continuous Access
Journal Z copy pair between the primary site and remote site 1.
• YKQUERY
• YKSUSPND REVERSE
• YKEWAIT GOTO(SUSPEND) NOINVALIDCHECK
3. From remote site 1, execute the YKRESYNC REVERSE command for the Continuous Access
Journal Z copy pair between the primary site and remote site 1.
Because a failure has occurred in the primary site storage system, an attempt to perform a
Reverse Resync fails, and the copy direction is not reversed.
