Updates from the host to the P-VOL are duplicated in the
S-VOL.
PAIR
Not accessibleRead/writeThe user has split the pair.PSUS
The pair is not synchronized.(see “Split types

Read/writeNot accessibleIf a failover occurred, the P-VOL changes to PSUS.
S-VOL status is SSWS.
Not accessibleRead/writeThe primary system has suspended the pair due to an error
condition.
PSUE

Read/writeThis pair consists of LUSE volumes. The status of the pair is
COPY or PAIR; however, the status of one or more LDEVs in
the LUSE volumes is SMPL or PSUE.

If an S-VOL in PAIR status accepts write I/O, the storage system assumes that a failover occurred. Then the S-VOL changes
to SSWS status and the P-VOL usually changes to the PSUS status.
When the pair is in PSUS, SSWS, or PSUE status, the primary system generates SIMs (service
information message). You can check SIMs in the Remote Web Console Alerts window.
Split types (PSUS status)
Split types appear on the Detailed Information dialog box; they specify the reason a pair is split.
When you split a pair, the pair status changes to PSUS and updates to the S-VOL stop. You can
set an option to block updates to the P-VOL also while the pair is split. This results in the P-VOL and
S-VOL staying synchronized.
If the P-VOL accepts write I/O while the pair is split, the primary system records the updated tracks
of the P-VOL as differential data. This data is copied to the S-VOL when the pair is resynchronized.
The following table lists PSUS types.
