HP P9000 External Storage Access Manager User Guide (AV400-96407, October 2011)

This section provides a comparison of RAID Manager commands and Remote Web Console
functionality for performing ESAM operations.
Though the host recognizes the ESAM volumes as a single volume, RAID Manager views the
P-VOL and S-VOL as separate volumes.
RAID Manager views the ESAM pair as a Continuous Access Synchronous pair.
When performing a RAID Manager operation on the S-VOL, make sure that you specify S-VOL
information in the scripts.
Table 4 (page 34) lists the supported RAID Manager commands and corresponding Remote Web
Console operations. See the HP P9000 RAID Manager Reference Guide for more information on
how to use these commands.
NOTE: Because RAID Manager treats ESAM pairs as Continuous Access Synchronous pairs,
there might not be any reference in the RAID Manager guide to ESAM pairs. Use the Continuous
Access Synchronous version of the RAID Manager commands.

NOTE:
The pairresync command cannot be executed on a pair when the storage system cannot access the quorum
disk due to a failure.
To resynchronize an ESAM pair, the fence level must be Never.
Make sure the pair is in the PAIR status when executing the pairresync -swaps or -swapp command.
After you execute the pairsplit -RS command, the write command to the P-VOL will fail.
The following commands cannot be executed on ESAM pairs: pairresync -fg <CTGID>, pairsplit -RB,
and pairsplit -rw.
