Data path
8 paths at maximum, from MCU to RCU.
Fibre Channel, direct or with switch connections. See “Planning data paths” (page 25).
Logical paths
Maximum of eight from primary system to secondary system.
Logical paths are established for primary and secondary systems CUs separately.
Maximum number of logical paths allowed for a primary system is 32 (8 paths per
secondary system x 4 secondary systems per primary system).
Maximum number of
secondary systems
Maximum of four secondary system per primary system.
Each secondary system CU must be added separately to a primary system.
Pair volumes
P-VOL and S-VOL must be equal in size.
The maximum size of P-VOL and S-VOL is 4,194,304.000MB(8,589,934,592 blocks).
However, when primary system or secondary system is XP12000 Disk Array/XP10000
Disk Array, it is 2,949,120.00MB(6,039,797,760 blocks).
The minimum size of P-VOL and S-VOL is 48.000MB(96,000 blocks) for OPEN-V. It
is 36.000MB(72,000 blocks), except for OPEN-V.
One P-VOL may only be copied to one S-VOL.
P-VOL and S-VOL can be shared with other program product volumes. See “Volume
types that can be shared with Continuous Access Synchronous (page 31).
See “Planning volume pairs (page 20) on for more information.
