Example of configuring routes
“Example of a storage system configuration” (page 117) shows a particular configuration of storage
systems as an example of configuring a route.
Figure 66 Example of a storage system configuration
In the example:
1. Identify the remote storage systems.
The corresponding storage systems are DKC-C, DKC-D, and DKC-E.
2. Configure the routes.
Starting with either DKC-A or DKC-B, plan how to configure the routes so that all the storage
systems identified in step 1 are connected to:
• First route: DKC-A -> DKC-C -> DKC-D
Using this route, you can control DKC-C and DKC-D.
• Second route: DKC-A -> DKC-C -> DKC-E
The second route must include DKC-E, but the route from DKC-B to DKC-C cannot be
defined because an N:1 connection (a connection from multiple storage systems to a
single storage system) configuration is not allowed (see “Example of defining the routes”
(page 118)). Therefore, configure a route that starts with DKC-A. The command device of
DKC-A and the command device of DKC-C are shared with the first route.
“Example of defining the routes” (page 118) shows defining the two routes necessary for this
configuration.
