remote scan A function to acquire disk configuration information about the volumes on a disk controller that
has no channel connection to the host.
REPORT command An operator command used to display the information about copy groups monitored by BCM
Monitor. You can specify this command in the MODIFY command to display the number of copy
pairs in various copy pair statuses, the details for each copy pair, and the operational information
and consistency information for copy groups.

resync copy This function executes the YKRESYNC command in the suspend status and uses differential data
copying to return the status to DUPLEX.

SET command An operator command used to dynamically change values specified in the BCM Monitor parameter
files. By specifying this parameter in the MODIFY command, you can change the CYCLETIME,
WAITTIMEOUT, or MSGLEVEL values, and change the monitoring status of a copy group between
ACTIVE and INACTIVE.
SETINIT command An operator command used to set the initialization parameter for the Business Continuity Manager
agent. By specifying this parameter in the MODIFY command, you can dynamically change the
log output level.
SI Hitachi ShadowImage. Also known as HP StorageWorks XP Business Copy.
sidefile An area of cache used to store the data sequence number, record location, record length, and
queued control information.
SLEEP command An operator command used to put BCM Monitor to sleep. By specifying this parameter in the
MODIFY command, you can specify the points at which BCM Monitor enters sleep mode and
how long it remains asleep.

SMS storage group An aggregate of the volumes that constitute the storage pool managed by DFSMS (storage
management environment in IBM MVS)
staging dataset A dataset where the log data acquired by Business Continuity Manager is written first. When the
usage reaches the specified value, the data is copied to a log dataset.
START command An operator command used to start a Business Continuity Manager agent or BCM Monitor
startup mode An execution permission mode that is specified in an initialization parameter of Business Continuity
Manager agents. The startup mode consists of the monitor mode and the edit mode.
STOP command An operator command used to stop a Business Continuity Manager agent or BCM Monitor
subordinate DKC A DKC that is a non-supervisor remote DKC subjected to arbitration processing in a 4x4
configuration
supervisor DKC A remote DKC that is in charge of arbitration processing in a 4x4 configuration
suspend status A collective name for the SUSPOP status, SUSPCU status and, SUSPER status
