3DC Multi-Target
configuration
A configuration to perform remote copying with a nearby local site and a distant remote site, in
which TCs and URs are applied from the primary site to the local site, and from the primary site
to the remote site
4x4 configuration A configuration in which both the primary and secondary sites consist of multiple disk controllers
and remote copy is performed to preserve consistency in those multiple disk controllers. The
applicable copy type is UR.
4x4x4 Cascade
configuration
A 3DC Cascade configuration in which TC is applied between the primary site and intermediate
site. UR in a 4x4 configuration is applied between the intermediate site and remote site.
Consistency can be preserved in a 3DC Cascade configuration with multiple DKCs in one site.
O
Open/MF
consistency group
A consistency group that uses the Open/MF Consistency Preservation Function. This group consists
of both open system copy groups and mainframe system copy groups, and can suspend them
simultaneously.
operational testing A test of the remote site when copy pairs spanning the primary site and one or more other sites
are cut off, to check whether operations are being performed properly, such as during a failure.
Once the test is completed, the primary site and the remote site need to be synchronized again.
P
P-VOL Primary volume.
pair information
CSV file
A CSV file in which copy information in a copy group container is described
pair volume A pair (P-VOL and S-VOL)
path set A set of inter-control unit paths or inter-disk controller logical paths. The unit for controlling logical
paths.
PathID Identifier for the inter-disk controller logical paths established from the same DKC. One PathID
can specify up to eight physical paths. Currently, only PathID=00 is available.
physical DKC serial
number
A number assigned to each storage system
physical path A path connected via a Fibre Channel interface cable or serial interface (ESCON) cable, to
connect initiator ports and target ports.
planned outage Planned stoppage of an operating site, such as for maintenance. This is used to minimize
application stoppage by migrating the application to one or more sites. After the stopped site
has been recovered, any content that was updated on one or more sites needs to be applied.
PPRC Peer-to-peer remote copy.
PPRC copy pair for
which HyperSwaps
are enabled
A PPRC copy pair created using Cnt Ac-S for Mainframe for which HyperSwaps can be performed.
TPC-R can be used to create these copy pairs. You can define a Cnt Ac-S for Mainframe copy
pair as a Cnt Ac-S for Mainframe copy pair with the HyperSwap attribute by using the YKH2B
command in Business Continuity Manager, making it possible to use Business Continuity Manager
to monitor or dissolve the Cnt Ac-S for Mainframe copy pair.
primary DAD Device address domain that contains the P-VOLs in a copy group
primary site The data center location that owns the cluster group (quorum resource).
R
primary site The data center location that owns the cluster group (quorum resource).
RACF An IBM security management product
remote command
device
An arbitration command device of the subordinate DKC, which is mapped to the supervisor DKC
as an external volume
remote control unit A disk control unit that controls the S-VOL of a TC/TCA/UR copy pair
remote disk
controller
A disk controller that is not directly connected to the primary host.
