HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor v6.0 Software Troubleshooting and FAQs Guide

The status of an alarm record changes to Close when the corresponding alarm record is deleted
from the Alarms screen.
After setting emails to last dispatch level (level 3), will an email be sent, if the threshold value is
crossed in the next cycle?
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor sends an email alert, if the cache usage exceeds 10%. To
receive further email notification, increase the dispatch level using the Edit option, from the Alarm
Config screen. Verify the same in the Event log.
NOTE: Once an email has been sent for dispatch level set, no further emails are sent for same
alarm, but the Time Updated field in Alarm History will be updated accordingly.
When will “Good Information” alarm be sent?
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor dispatches Good Information alarm notifications, which is a
Recovery Alarm. Good Information email notification is sent, if the performance collection value
goes below the set threshold value.
I've provided the new threshold values for an alarm record on the Alarms screen. However, the
threshold values are not updated. What is the procedure to update threshold values for an alarm
record?
You must select the check box for an alarm record, for which you want to update the alarm
configuration settings (includes setting threshold values). After updating the values, click Edit for
the changes to take effect. The alarm configuration settings are not updated for an alarm record,
if you do not select the corresponding check box.
What does the following error message indicate?
One or more threshold values are not proper (Threshold 1 <= Threshold
2 <= Threshold 3 <= 999999)
This error message is displayed when one or more threshold values are not properly set. The value
that you set as threshold level 3 should be greater than or equal to the value that you set as threshold
level 2. Similarly, the value that you set as threshold level 2 should be greater than or equal to the
value that you set as threshold level 1.
What is the description for Error Code 3, Error Code 6, and Error Code 0, and when are they
displayed?
The following error codes are displayed under Alarms+Alarms History in the Email Status, SNMP
Status, and Script Status text boxes in the following scenarios:
Error Code 3: Displayed when the source SMTP server IP address or host name and the port
address, or the SNMP server IP address provided under Settings+PA Settings is incorrect. It
is also displayed if there are errors in the alarm script files (xml files).
Error Code 0: Displayed when the alarm notifications and traps are dispatched, and scripts
executed without any errors.
Error Code 6: Displayed under Alarms+Alarms History in the Email Status and SNMP Status text
boxes when the source email address specified under Alarms+Alarms Configuration or Settings+PA
Settings is invalid. It can also be displayed when the SNMP server fails to dispatch the trap to the
intended SNMP trap destination.
