HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor v6.0 Software Troubleshooting and FAQs Guide

4 Frequently Asked Questions
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Licensing
Where do I find the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor registration number for generating a
permanent license?
The HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor registration number is included on the product entitlement
certificate that is provided with every HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor License To USE (LTU) you
purchase.
How do I generate the permanent license?
You can generate the permanent license at the Hewlett-Packard Authorization Center (HPAC)
license key website, using the following URL: webkey.external.hp.com
For HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor to continue configuration collection for additional internal
raw disk capacities on your XP disk arrays or usable capacities on your P9000 disk arrays, you
should install permanent licenses on HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor for each of the XP and
P9000 disk arrays.
Can I generate the Instant-on license at the HPAC license key website?
No. You cannot generate the Instant-on license at the HPAC license key website. It is only available
along with the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor media and automatically activated when you
install HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor (v4.5 onwards).
If I add 20 TB to the existing 64 TB internal raw disk capacity on my XP disk array, should I procure
additional license for HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor to monitor the newly added 20 TB internal
raw disk capacity?
Monitoring internal raw disk capacity of 64 TB and greater is considered as unlimited frame license
by HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor. Therefore, you need not generate a separate license for
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor to monitor any newly added internal raw disk capacity.
Are the array type and serial number sufficient to generate a license for an XP or a P9000 disk
array?
Yes. These are a few mandatory inputs for generating a license. In addition, you should also
provide the internal raw disk capacity for an XP disk array or the usable capacity for a P9000
disk array that you want to be monitored, and the expiry date for the license (based on the type
of license that you select).
The following warning message is displayed in the Array Performance report that I generated.
What does it indicate?
WARNING: License violation was detected for this array. This report may
not capture performance data about the recent configuration changes
made in the XP/P9000 disk array. Please purchase the required Performance
Advisor licenses immediately.
This warning message is displayed in every report that you generate for an XP or a P9000 disk
array, when both the following conditions are met:
Grace period of 60 days expires
Permanent license of the required internal raw disk capacity for an XP disk array or the usable
capacity for a P9000 disk array is not installed
You must purchase, generate, and install a permanent license, equal to the XP disk array’s internal
raw capacity or the P9000 disk array's usable capacity, if you want HP XP P9000 Performance
Advisor to monitor the new configuration changes for the XP or the P9000 disk array.
