HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor v6.0 Software Troubleshooting and FAQs Guide

Cause
The configuration data collection fails or the PerformanceAdvisorXP.log displays the following
error: PerformanceAdvisor: Failed to start config data collector transfer for <Array Serial #>:
com.hp.xpsl.hostagent.RmlibException: RMLIBbased DKC configuration is empty for <Array Serial
#>
Resolution
To resolve the issue:
1. Create a GUID on the Windows host. See the topic, “Assigning GUIDs for command devices
on a Windows host agent” in the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Software Installation
Guide. For document download location, see “Related information” (page 83).
2. Restart the Windows host agent services.
3. From the list of host records under the Host Information tab, select the host record on which
performance data collection stopped.
4. Click Request Info and wait until the status is updated to show as Received. This verifies that
the host and management station are communicating with each other.
5. Initiate configuration and performance data collection.
Cause
The performance data collection schedules might not be created.
Resolution
Verify that schedules are created for the performance data collection under the Performance
Collection tab. Data does not appear until two data collection intervals have elapsed. For more
information, see the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Software User Guide. For document
download location, see “Related information” (page 83).
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Oracle database connection failure
Cause
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor is unable to connect to the Oracle database and following
error is logged in the pa.log file (HPSS_HOME\pa\tomcat\log).
Resolution
1. Ensure that the user account used to install HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor has administrator
privileges.
2. Check whether the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Oracle Database services are active.
Go to Start+Run and type services.msc. In the Services dialog box, verify that the HP XP
P9000 Performance Advisor Database and HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Database
Listener services have started.
3. If the above steps are successful, check for duplicate server entries in the hosts file
(DRIVE_LETTER:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts). In the following example,
the IP address 127.0.0.1 has duplicate server name entries:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 tstrgwb1
4. Remove the duplicate entry for the IP address.
5. Execute the following commands in a command prompt window on your management station
to stop and start the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Database Listener service:
