Troubleshooting installation issues
This section discusses troubleshooting HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor and host agents
installation, and upgrade-related issues.
Performance Advisor Security service does not start
Performance Advisor Security Services may not start after upgrading to v5.5.
Cause
This happens when the Performance Advisor monitor service (of an earlier version of Performance
Advisor) is not stopped properly, and it holds the JRE files.
Resolution
Reboot the system. A reboot is required for the installer to upgrade the JRE. The Performance
Advisor installer displays a message to reboot the system during installation.
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor installation does not complete and rolls back
While installing HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor, the installation might stop and roll back.
Cause
The Loopback adapter might not be configured on your management station.
Resolution
Configure a Loopback Adapter on your management station. For more information, see the HP XP
P9000 Performance Advisor Software Installation Guide. For document download location, see
“Related information” (page 81).
Cause
The C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file is modified.
Resolution
Revert the changes made in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file. HP
recommends that you do not tamper the entries for the localhost in this file.
Cause
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor database related folders and services still exist on your
management station.
Resolution
If a previous version of HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor has been removed, verify that the Oracle
folders and services for HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor have been removed.
To remove existing HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Oracle database instance:
