3. Restart the host agent services.
Cause
An Unknown Host error is displayed when you view the host agent details in the Host Information
table in HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor. This is because, the host name might not be resolved.
Resolution
Do the following:
• Ensure that the host is up and running. Try to ping the host (command prompt>ping
<hostname>).
• The host browser-side system is able to resolve the host name. Try to ping the host (command
prompt>ping <hostname>).
If the second option fails, you must set the DNS configuration. To configure, do the following:
1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections.
2. Right click Local Area Connection, select Properties.
3. On the General tab, double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties Window is displayed.
4. Click the Advanced tab.
The Advanced TCP/IP Settings window is displayed.
5. On the DNS tab, select Append DNS suffixes.
6. Add host name suffix.
7. Click OK to save the settings.
Cause
An incompatible browser version is used to launch HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor.
Resolution
Correct the browser version used to launch HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor. Also, configure
your IE browser to allow pop-ups, so that HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor functions properly.

After you are able to view the host agent records, refresh the Host Information table on the Array
View screen Monitoring+Array View+Host Information. For more information, see the HP XP P9000

Data collection failure after installing or upgrading HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor might not collect configuration or performance data for the XP
and the P9000 disk arrays though the installation, or upgrade is completed without any errors.
Cause
The Windows or UNIX host agent is unable to contact HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor and the
host agent might not appear in the Host Information table in HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor.
Resolution
For troubleshooting connectivity issues, see “Host agent records do not appear in HP XP P9000
Performance Advisor after an install or upgrade” (page 15).
Cause
The configured settings for the antivirus firewall installed on the management station might be
blocking the communication between the management station and the host agent.
