HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software v5.4 Install Guide (T1789-96330, April 2012)
• XP entitlement certificates: The registration numbers can be used on XP disk arrays only, such as
the XP24000, XP20000, XP12000, XP10000, XP1024, and the XP128.
• P9000 entitlement certificates: The registration numbers can be used on P9000 disk arrays only.
Based on the license entitlement certificate that you receive, generate and install a Permanent license
for the internal raw disk capacity, or the usable capacity, that you want P9500 Performance Advisor
to monitor.
Generating and adding licenses
To generate and add the Permanent license key file, complete the following steps:
1. Access the Hewlett-Packard Authorization Center (HPAC) license key website, http://
webkey.external.hp.com/ from your IE browser.
2. Click Generate a License Key in the Main Menu section.
The Generate License Key screen appears.
3. Enter the registration number in the Registration Number or Product Authorization Key box. Ensure
that the registration number is same as that mentioned in the product entitlement certificate.
4. Click Next >>.
The Array information input screen appears. The following details are displayed:
• Registration number
• P9000 Performance Advisor base license
• Additional PA LTU that you purchased
• Internal raw disk capacity or usable capacity that the LTU supports
IMPORTANT:
• The internal raw disk capacity is applicable only for the XP disk arrays. It refers to the
total capacity of all the RAID groups created on your XP disk array and excludes the
disk capacity occupied by the external RAID groups and pool volumes, such as the ThP
pools and the VVols.
• The usable capacity is applicable only for the P9500 disk arrays and is calculated as
the sum of the following:
Total allocated LDEV capacity + total unallocated LDEV capacity + reserved capacity
The usable capacity includes the following:
• Allocated internal LDEVs (total allocated LDEV capacity)
• Unallocated internal LDEVs (total unallocated LDEV capacity)
• Pool volumes, such as ThP, snapshot, and journal volumes (reserved capacity)
Usable capacity = Internal LDEVs — (External Volumes + Virtual Volumes)
5. Provide the following details on the Array information input screen:
• Enter the Array DKC serial number, which is a 5 digit number, such as 10900, 53036.
• Select the Hardware platform from the list.
The supported P9000 disk array models, such as the P9500 and the XP disk array models,
such as the XP24000, XP20000, XP12000, XP10000, XP1024, and the XP128 are displayed
for selection.
