Implementing the authentication method
Based on the authentication method you want for P9000 performance Advisor users, select the
respective option from the following list displayed on the Authentication Configuration installation
window:

P9000 Performance Advisor Native Authentication.
Windows System Authentication. For more information on implementing this authentication, see
Windows System Authentication.
Windows Domain based Authentication. For more information on implementing this authentication,
see Windows Domain based Authentication.
LDAP Authentication. For more information on implementing this authentication, see LDAP Authen-
tication.
RADIUS Authentication. For more information on implementing this authentication, see RADIUS
Authentication.
For more information on the prerequisites associated with these authentication methods, see Determining
the authentication type for P9000 Performance Advisor.
IMPORTANT:
The Windows System Authentication and Windows Domain based Authentication are displayed
in the authentication list, only if your management station is part of a domain.
P9000 Performance Advisor installation is not supported on domain controller in Windows Vista,
Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows 7 Platforms.
If you are using WIN2K3 platforms, HP recommends that you should install P9000 Performance
Advisor management station on standalone servers.
Click Next to configure the authentication settings for the selected authentication method. The
appropriate Authentication Configuration installation window appears.
P9000 Performance Advisor Native Authentication
By default, P9000 Performance Advisor uses P9000 Performance Advisor Native Authentication to
authenticate and authorize all users. If P9000 Performance Advisor verifies that the management
station is not in a domain or if you select P9000 Performance Advisor Native Authentication, and
click Next, you are taken to the Choose Setup Type installation window, where you either select the
complete or the custom installation method. For more information, see Selecting complete or custom
installation method.
After installing P9000 Performance Advisor for the above-mentioned authentication type, login as an
administrator, create user accounts, and grant them privileges (administrator or user privileges) to
perform various tasks in P9000 Performance Advisor. You can also login as a storageadmin, who
is an administrator user of CV XP and has the same privileges as that of the administrator user of
P9000 Performance Advisor. For more information, see Configuring P9000 Performance Advisor
related settings.
